The Small Business Management (SBM) program is a unique combination of classroom learning, individual business and leadership coaching, peer-to-peer learning and business networking – all designed around one goal: making you and your business more successful. This eight-month business management course is designed exclusively for business owners—where YOUR business is the textbook. SBM is not an academic course. It is real-world learning designed to improve your business acumen and get immediate results.

Beginning November 17th, the cohort will meet every other week for 8-months. The sessions are currently held on Zoom, but may convert to in-person classes depending on the latest COVID-19 guidance. The bi-weekly, 120-minute sessions are taught by subject matter experts and facilitated by the Clatsop SBDC.

Program Includes:

  • 50 hours of training and coaching over 8-months
  • 2 classroom sessions per month
  • 2 hours of private one-on-one coaching sessions each month
  • All materials and resources are provided

Application Process:

  • Oct. 5: Application opens
  • Nov 2: Applications due
  • Applications will be reviewed, finalists notified, and interviews scheduled
  • Nov. 15: PayPal invoices sent: 1st person $699, 2nd person $199 - Please notify the advisor at the time of your interview if you want to add a second person
  • Nov. 19: Payment due

An award of $350.00, or 50% of the cost of the program will be given at the end to businesses who complete the program and present an updated Business Plan to their peers.

Speaker(s): -Subject matter experts to be announced. -Facilitated by Ian Reid, SBM Program Facilitator for SBDC, Clatsop Community College Ian has held positions both as an intrapreneur and entrepreneur in various industries. For over a decade, he worked closely with small, medium and larger enterprises both in economic development counseling and guiding entrepreneurs to launch, grow, and transfer their business, and as co-founder of a business processes consulting firm that went from 2 to 26 employees. He completed a master’s degree in user research and experience to better understand the dynamics of human needs, that he believes ultimately fuels business and the economy. Non-credit Class/Workshop Refund Policy: For a class with three sessions or more, students must drop the class within two business days of the class start date in order to receive a full refund.
