Before you register, be sure you understand the entire process. You'll need to first obtain a "Candidate ID Number" from the LCB.

This class meets for 2 FULL DAYS: Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10, from 8am - 5pm, both days, in our classroom (see map below)

Prepare for the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board (LCB) Professional Licensing exam with direct instruction. This course is offered by the Small Business Development Center at Clackamas Community College. It includes a 16-hour training and the official LCB Professional Licensing exam.

The Landscape Construction Professional (LCP) license is required before you can apply for an Oregon Landscape Contracting Business license. After passing the class, you may receive your LCP and/or continue testing for irrigation/backflow.

NOTE: This exam is the Standard Phase portion of the LCB exam. If you plan to do irrigation and/or backflow, you will need more testing after this class.

This 2-day course covers:

• Oregon landscape contracting laws and regulations
• Plant identification, installation and maintenance
• Irrigation systems, drainage and water management
• Soils, grading and erosion control
• Landscape construction, hardscapes and outdoor structures
• Estimating, bidding, contracts and project management
• Business management, safety and customer relations

You need 75% passing rate on each of the 4 exams, so please study for the class ahead of time. If you give yourself about 2-3 weeks of diligent studying with our materials, your chance of success rises DRAMATICALLY!

What are the requirements for this class?

• Must be 18 years old
• At the class, produce a valid (not expired) photo ID from this list:
  • Driver License
  • DMV-issued ID
  • Green Card
  • Military ID
  • US Passport

After passing the exam, what's next?

Passing the exam earns your Landscape Construction Professional (LCP) license, which qualifies you to work as a licensed landscape professional in Oregon. If your goal is to start your own landscape contracting business, our SBDC advisors will meet with you at no cost to help you prepare your business for licensing. We'll help you with items such as:

• Registering your business with the Oregon Secretary of State
• Obtaining an EIN and business bank account
• Meeting insurance and bond requirements
• Completing your Landscape Contracting Business license application
• Understanding your ongoing licensing responsibilities

Our business advising services continue long after the class is over—and they're always free.

Our goal isn't just to help you pass the exam—we want to help you launch a successful landscaping career. You'll leave with the knowledge needed to earn your Professional License, access to free business advising, and a clear roadmap for obtaining your Landscape Contracting Business license if you decide to start your own company.

CLASS REGISTRATION AND COST: $450 flat fee, includes:

1. ONE free retest (after that, each retest is $50.00)**
