The bottom line is - a positive and productive workplace can help minimize and protect employees and the business from perceptions and incidents of harassment and discrimination. In this class, you will: • Learn about the history, regulatory context, and best practices for a no tolerance harassment and discrimination workplace. • Explore red flags that can lead to increased liability and risk for the business and for diminished productivity due to perceptions, allegations, and claims of harassment and discrimination. • Class exercise: Practice identifying the risks in common workplace scenarios and brainstorm ways to mitigate those risks and build a more positive and productive workplace environment that aligns with your particular business objectives. • Class exercise: Conduct a workplace environment audit on your business or team using a template provided in the class to identify where top desired expectations are reflected in the workplace environment and where behaviors and actions may not be in support of the desired workplace environment. This class is designed for small business owners, managers, and supervisors who have multiple employees in the business or a team and who may have workplace issues, such as with misunderstandings among employees or across teams, high turnover, allegations of harassment, discrimination or bullying, and/or are seeking to improve and build a more positive and productive workplace environment. The class is two hours and is a classroom format that includes presentation, group discussion, and in-class work. Participants will receive materials during the course, which will include a template for a workp lace environment audit and a template for designing an initiative to build a more positive and productive workplace environment within your business or team. NOTE: This course qualifies for 2 credit hours in CCB Residential Continuing Education and LCB Continuing Education credit. RCC Small Business Development Center is responsible for the content of this course.
