Get prepared to take the State of Oregon Property Manager License Exam.

This course is the fastest way to qualify to take the exam which covers the role of property managers, tenant relations, fair housing, lease agreements and more. You must attend all evening class sessions through Zoom and have online capacity to complete the self-study portion of this course. All class materials will be provided. Taught by an experienced Property Manager.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this the class I need to become a licensed property manager? Yes. This course is approved by the State of Oregon Real Estate Agency (OREA) and meets the 60-hour education requirement to become a licensed property manager in Oregon.

What books or other materials do I need to purchase for the Property Manager class? None. All materials are provided. The instructor will explain how the class works and give you information on how to access the online portion of the course. Plan to spend between 6-8 hours each week studying the online material.

Are there other classes that I need to take prior to or after this to become a Property Manager? No. After the class term ends, you must pass a required exam from the OREA's exam vendor. Prior to taking the exam, you must apply for a property manager license and pay an application fee to the OREA.

What other requirements must be met in order to become licensed? To become licensed you must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma, GED or international equivalent, and pass a background check.

What is the difference between a Property Manager and a Real Estate Broker? In Oregon, one may only hold one real estate license at a time (either Broker or Property Manager). A licensed property manager can manage rental real estate on behalf of an owner. While holding a property manager license, the licensee may work on their own or with others. A licensed property manager may not assist others during the home buying and selling process. A real estate broker license is the entry-level license that allows a person to conduct professional real estate activity, under the supervision of a principal broker. A broker may help others to buy and sell homes and conduct property management activity, but only under the supervision of a principal broker. To summarize, a broker can do property management only if their supervising principal broker allows them to and a licensed property manager can work on their own without requiring supervision.

Once I become a licensed property manager, do I have to continue taking classes to maintain my status? Yes. The property manager license must be renewed every two years.

Prior to renewing an active license, the property manager needs to complete 30 hours of eligible continuing education. There are specific courses that must be taken prior to the first active renewal. This information is covered in the course.
